As part of their Directorate's Strategic priorities to improving Njala University's online presence, the ICT Directorate has commenced an in housed website training for core staff members including Academic and administrative staff of Njala University drawn from Freetown, Bo and Njala.

A high powered delegation from the British Broadcasting Cooperation (BBC) has held a one-day productive partnership meeting with the Njala University (NU) Administration, at the University’s main campus, at Njala. The rationale for the meeting was to formalize the partnership agreement between the NU radio station and the BBC.

As standards are said to be falling within the University of Sierra Leone in terms of performance, the present Vice Chancellor and Principal of Njala University Professor Abu Sesay has disclosed that in a recent Africa University rating, “Njala was rated far ahead of the University of Sierra Leone.”

This follows the launching of two publications by the Academic Staff Association of the university; the Njala University Journal and the on-line Network for Research and Development Journal. The journals, which are now functional, accept writings from both lecturers and students of the university.

Vice Chancellors Professor Abu Sesay of Njala University and Professor Jonas Redwood-Sawyerr of University of Sierra Leone have been the focus of much academic attention in Kalamazoo, Michigan (USA) where they recently met with US and Diaspora colleagues to develop an action agenda for “Reconnecting the Academy in Sierra Leone and the Diaspora”

The Information Training & Outreach Centre for Africa (ITOCA) will be holding a Training-Of-Trainer Workshop from 3-6 September at Njala University in Sierra Leone.

On May 6, University of Illinois officials signed a memorandum of understanding with Njala University of the West African country of Sierra Leone to partner in the rebuilding of the university it helped establish 46 years ago.

"The relationship between University of Illinois' College of Agricultural, Consumer, and Environmental Sciences (ACES) and Njala University being solidified today through the signing of this memorandum of understanding reignites a relationship begun in 1964," said Robert Hauser, dean of the College of ACES.
